Description
The Courvoisier Collection Erté n°1 “Vigne” is the first release in the legendary seven-part series created between 1988 and 1995 in collaboration with the celebrated Russian-French Art Deco artist Romain de Tirtoff, known as Erté. This collection was designed to highlight the different stages of cognac production, with “Vigne” representing the vine as the origin of the spirit. Only a limited number of bottles were produced, making it one of the most iconic collector’s cognacs of the late 20th century.
The decanter itself is an exquisite work of art, featuring Erté’s distinctive style with flowing lines and vibrant colors. The front shows a stylized woman intertwined with grapevines, painted in rich shades of red, gold, and orange. The back of the bottle is decorated with a gilded leaf motif, upon which Erté’s script and signature are inscribed. The stopper is clear crystal, completing the elegant presentation. Each decanter is individually numbered on its base, and this example comes in the original presentation case with booklet and certificate.
The cognac inside is a blend of carefully selected Extra quality eaux-de-vie, drawn from Courvoisier’s historic cellars. Bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof) in the 750 ml format, it reflects the depth and craftsmanship of Courvoisier’s blending tradition. Tasting notes reveal layers of dried fruit, honey, spice, and rancio, with a long, elegant finish typical of fine aged Grande Champagne cognac.
The Collection Erté series is regarded as a landmark in the world of collectible cognac, combining artistry, history, and spirit. As the very first release in the series, “Vigne” is especially significant for collectors, setting the tone for the six that followed. Complete examples with their original box, documents, and intact seals are increasingly rare, making this decanter both a showcase piece and a testament to the partnership between Courvoisier and one of the greatest Art Deco designers of the 20th century.
