Description
Rémy Martin Louis XIII Grande Champagne Cognac – 750 ml (US Edition by Remy Amerique, late 1980s–early 1990s)
This presentation of Louis XIII Cognac is the United States market edition, bottled at 750 ml with 40 % ABV and distributed by Remy Amerique Inc., New York. Based on the Baccarat engraving style, red octagonal presentation box, and the Remy Amerique distributor line, this example can be dated to the late 1980s to early 1990s, a period of transition before the later “Classic” editions were introduced.
Decanter details:
The decanter is mouth-blown Baccarat crystal, decorated with raised fleur-de-lys medallions and distinctive spiked edges. A matte gold collar surrounds the neck, embossed with the Louis XIII name, and a matching crystal stopper completes the design. The red presentation case with golden fleur-de-lys motifs enhances its luxurious appeal and is consistent with this production era.
Blend & heritage:
Louis XIII is composed exclusively of eaux-de-vie from the Grande Champagne cru, the most prestigious vineyard area of Cognac. Up to 1,200 individual eaux-de-vie aged between 40 and 100 years are combined to create this extraordinary spirit. Maturation takes place in century-old tierçons, imparting depth, richness, and the legendary rancio notes that define Louis XIII.
Tasting profile:
The nose reveals dried fig, prune, and honey, alongside candied citrus and subtle floral tones. On the palate, layers of sandalwood, leather, nutmeg, and oak intertwine with rich fruit, unfolding in a silky texture. The finish is exceptionally long, often lasting over an hour.
Collectability:
This 750 ml Remy Amerique edition from the late 1980s–early 1990s is now highly collectible. The combination of Baccarat craftsmanship, Grande Champagne heritage, and its historical position as a pre-Classic era bottling makes it a rare acquisition for serious cognac collectors and enthusiasts of luxury spirits history.
