Description

1858 vintage cognac from J G Monnet, produced before the Phylloxera epidemic which led to a large proportion of the vines in Europe being destroyed.

The house of Monnet was founded by an association of local vineyard owners in 1838. The company took its name from Jean-Gabriel Monnet in 1897, who also gave the Salamander as emblem to the company. After Jean-Gabriel, the company was led by his son who later became the father of the European Union.

This unique bottle was found in a temper basement, never opened and forgetten for years. Found in an old house, it was stored peacefully in a closet waiting to find the perfect owner. This treasure is representing the perfection of a 19th century cognac..
