A 19th century Cognac from La Rochelle: Godet Vintage Cognac from 1852

Presenting a very special Vintage dating back nearly 170 years, it is a rare find from one of Cognac’s finest producers. This particular Vintage is from Godet's private cellar, and typically Cognac makers would reserve the very finest of their stocks for their family to enjoy.

Godet’s history dates back to the second half of the 16th century, when Bonaventure Godet, a Dutch merchant settled in La Rochelle.

Ever since, the Godet family have been working with the land to produce eaux-de-vie, and it is this unique maritime climate that makes for a particularly special cellar environment. The humid and salty air from the Atlantic Ocean gives the Cognac a special something - and this one-off Vintage is no exception.

It is the ocean that gives Godet its reputation for producing refined and singular Cognacs, particularly its Vintages.

This Cognac is currently located in the USA.

Presentation of the bottle

The bottle is in great condition given its age. The seal is intact, and the label features a beautiful illustration of what appears to be Marianne, the figurehead of the French Republic and representative of the French republican values: "liberté, egalité, fraternité".
