Description
Rémy Martin Louis XIII “Very Old” Grande Champagne Cognac – Octagonal Box Edition dates from the late 1970s to early 1980s. This rare and collectible presentation includes a Baccarat crystal decanter with raised fleur-de-lys, housed in a distinctive red octagonal silk-lined box adorned with a gold ribbon and medallion. The cream bean-shaped label reads "Louis XIII Very Old" (or "Très Vieille"), consistent with this period’s packaging.
Louis XIII is Rémy Martin’s premium blend, composed of up to 1,200 eaux-de-vie aged between 40 and 100 years from Grande Champagne. The decanter replicates a 16th-century battle flask from Jarnac, rendered in Baccarat crystal, emphasizing history and craftsmanship.
Expect layered aromas of dried fruit, honey, sandalwood, tobacco, and floral incense on the nose. The palate evolves steadily with dried prune, spice, leather, and a remarkably long finish—a hallmark of Louis XIII’s finesse.
This edition is highly sought-after by collectors due to its limited production, striking packaging, and the prestige of a fully intact set. It's both a magnificent display piece and a decadent generational spirit.
