Description
This rare vintage Martell Cognac J & F Martell Extra is a highly collectible expression from the late 1970s, bottled at 90 proof (45% ABV) in the 750 ml format. It is presented in its original red velvet case with a hinged clasp, cream-gold satin lining, and the original J & F Martell booklet. The bottle remains sealed with intact red wax and its numbered import strip, showing excellent preservation for its age.
The front label reads “Martell Cognac J & F Martell Extra” and confirms production and bottling in France for the U.S. market through The Jos. Garneau Co., New York. The reverse label describes the use of rare eaux-de-vie from Martell’s “Paradis” reserves, noting the limited availability of this exceptional cognac and displaying a unique bottle number.
Martell Extra from this period was positioned as one of the house’s most prestigious blends, crafted from some of the oldest and most refined spirits in the cellar. Known for its smooth, rich profile, it delivers deep notes of dried fruits, sweet spices, and subtle oak, layered over a long and elegant finish.
The combination of high strength, mature eaux-de-vie, and careful blending makes this release a standout both for enjoyment and for display. Complete examples with original packaging, paperwork, and intact seals like this one are increasingly rare, representing a true piece of Martell heritage and a prized addition for any serious cognac collection.
