Description

A highly collectible vintage bottling of Hennessy Paradis, dating from the 1980s, complete with its original box. This exquisite Cognac represents a significant era in the history of the Maison Hennessy, being one of the earlier releases of a cuvée first created by Master Blender Maurice Fillioux in 1979. It is a testament to the Fillioux family's multi-generational expertise in the art of blending.

The name "Paradis" refers to the Hennessy founder's cellar, a hallowed space where the house's oldest and most precious eaux-de-vie are aged. This particular expression is a masterful blend of over one hundred exceptional eaux-de-vie, some of which were aged for many decades, even up to a century, in old oak casks. This careful, prolonged maturation in seasoned barrels imparts a stunning amber-gold color with coppery reflections and avoids excessive tannins, preserving the delicate floral and fruity notes of the spirit.

This 1980s edition is presented in the classic, voluptuous decanter that has become synonymous with the Paradis line. The elegant shape is instantly recognizable to collectors and connoisseurs. This bottle is a rare find, offering a glimpse into the aromatic profile of a historic Paradis blend, characterized by its harmony, finesse, and silky texture on the palate. It is an essential acquisition for the serious collector of fine Cognac, representing both the heritage of Hennessy and the celebrated artistry of the original Paradis creation.

Bottle upper label reads “Paradis.” The mid front label states “RICHARD HENNESSY 1724-1800, Hennessy, Cognac, Jas Hennessy & C°, 40% vol. – e 0.7L, Hennessy Cognac France.” The mid back label reads “SINCE 1765 THE HENNESSY FAMILY HAS PUT ASIDE A FEW BARRELS OF COGNAC FROM EACH FINE VINTAGE. THESE COGNACS HAVE BEEN DRAWN FROM OTHER HENNESSY RESERVES IN A CELLAR CALLED LE CHAI DU FONDATEUR. Hennessy Cognac Jas Hennessy & C° Product of France HKDNP-USDOF.” The capsule/foil says “POUR OUVRIR – PLEASE TEAR HERE.” The top of the cap shows “Hennessy COGNAC.” A small sticker on the back shoulder reads “1.232350.” The front of the box says “Paradis RICHARD HENNESSY 1724-1800 Cognac Hennessy.”

The capsule is red with a golden stripe around the neck and black text with opening instructions. The cap is gold, embossed with “Hennessy” in sans-serif above the Bras Armé emblem (arm with axe amidst grapevines) and “COGNAC” in block serif. The bottle’s upper oval label has a gold border and “Paradis” in decorative serif. The front mid elongated red label with gold border carries a circular gold medallion of Richard Hennessy’s bust surrounded by “RICHARD HENNESSY 1724-1800” in serif; “Hennessy” and “Cognac” are in decorative serif, “Jas Hennessy & C°” in script, and volume/origin details in sans-serif. The back mid elongated red label with gold border presents descriptive text in serif; “Hennessy” and “Cognac” in decorative serif; “Jas Hennessy & C°” in script. The back shoulder bears a small translucent round sticker with serial number. The octagonal deep red presentation box has gold borders and detailing, “Paradis” in decorative serif at the top, the same large gold medallion of Richard Hennessy at center, and “Cognac Hennessy” in decorative serif at bottom.

The fill level is well above the shoulder into the neck, in excellent condition.
