My dad worked in the north Atlantic and Scotland and grew to love scotch and cognac on ocean trips. He was not a collector and preferred to drink the bottles he bought but many are still sealed. Today he still has 10 sealed bottles of cognac or brandy and 6 of whiskey. It would be satisfying to sell his bottles to fellow cognac and whiskey collectors and aficionados. Concerning the question above about the cork seal. It is covered such as a wine bottle with a flexible thin metal paper? In my opinion having opened a similar bottle years ago I question the cork integrity will still be maintained and would thus require filtering to a glass container to drink. Is this often the case for 40+ year old corked bottles? I noticed a small hole in the covering. Thank you for such a great website.
